In this article, genetics of Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) strain:, which produce insect specific delta-endotoxin, and industrial application are generally reviewed. Particularly, molecular biological characters of coleopteran specific delta-endotoxin, which is produced from B. turingiensis subsp. tenberionis (BTT), are discussed including a transformed tobacco plant with the gene of BTT-endotoxin.
In addition, a possible method of the maintenance for the stability of the BT-toxin in field is proposed for the effective control of insect pest.
